Overview |
“One
of the best views I have ever seen.”
In easy
reach by foot and by car there are clean sandy beaches, and
peace and tranquillity in abundance. Here you can savour
fresh, clean air and the sound of silence. There are plenty
of excellent walks around Skipness and in addition the house
is near the path for the Kintyre Way Route.
Skipness
has a lovingly restored 13th century Castle, and a ruined
chapel and graveyard with ancient grave slabs. There is a
local shop and post office and also The Seafood Cabin, which
is open during the summer months, serving fresh local
seafood in a breathtaking setting.
Coalfin
House makes an excellent base to explore the Kintyre
peninsula and nearby islands of Arran, Gigha, Jura and
Islay. Arran is the closest with a 20 minute journey by
ferry, and the other island ferries are easily accessed
within a short drive.
There are
several places to eat in nearby Tarbert, a small harbour
town, where you can savour some of the finest seafood you
will ever encounter.
