Last week, Campbeltown Bowling Club held its last competition of the year when the Tennents' Pairs was played. An open draw ensured that most partnerships were on a par and this was proved with the many close games that were played throughout the week although the semi-finals proved to both be one sided affairs as the pairs of Hugh McCorkindale and Jean K Allan and Archie Johnstone, making a welcome return to competitive bowling and Neil Maguire. With two very vociferous leads featuring, it made for a very amusing final that was watched by a good crowd who saw Archie and Neil take a good lead that they maintained to eventually run out as convincing winners to whom President John Johnston and his wife Morag presented the prizes.
