8th March 2007 - Fiona leads the way at Dumbarton
Fiona Mitchell of Kintyre Schools Pipe Band won both the March Strathspey & Reel event, and the Hornpipe & Jig event at the Dumbarton & District Juvenile Piping Competition held at Renton on Saturday 3rd March. Playing for the first time in the 15 to 18 years section, Fiona impressed the judges with a couple of faultless performances and was presented with the Jag Building Engineering Services Cup and the McCrady Memorial Shield.

A total of 13 young pipers from Campbeltown made the trip to the Dumbarton competition, accompanied by Pipe Major Ian McKerral.

In the Novice March event all three entrants from Kintyre did well to get onto the prize list, with Craig Barbour placed Second, Campbell McFadyen Fourth, and Frank Rochford Sixth.

Mark McCormick did well to be placed Second in the 15 to 18 years Hornpipe & Jig.

In other events Keith Cowie picked up 2 Sixth places in both the Under 15 years March Strathspey & Reel and the Hornpipe & Jig. Ross Ferguson came Sixth in the Under 15 years Piobearaichd.

In the Chanter events David McFadyen was placed Third in the 11 to 14 years Section, and Donnie McKerral was placed Sixth in the 10 years and Under Section.
