13th January 2007 - Sports Council Quiz and Bonus Ball raises £621!

South Kintyre Sports Council added a further £621 to their mini bus appeal thanks to the hard work of committee member Helen MacKinlay over the festive holidays.

Helen organised a bonus ball draw which was sold in The Burnside Bar, Whisky Macs and The Davaar Bar.  In addition a quiz was arranged for Thursday 28th December in the Burnside Bar which turned out to be very busy!

The Sports Council are currently trying to replace there mini bus

With both bars packed and twenty one teams entered the whole night was a complete success.  Aptly name "We're Last!" won the quiz and took the honours of being the first ever Sports Council quiz masters!

Money raised on the night, the bonus ball and donations amounted to £621.  A spokesperson for the Sports Council said "We would like to thank everyone who turned up at the quiz and supported our efforts to secure a new mini bus for the town.  Raising money for local projects is also about giving back to the community and we hope everyone enjoyed the evening!  Special thanks has to go to Helen for all her hard work and to the three public houses (Burnside, Whisky Macs and The Davaar) for supporting our efforts.  We have a series of events planned for early 2007 so please watch this space!"
